The Cho Byte

If you're new here, or just want to learn more about the history of Chobots, then you've come to the right place! Allow me to explain about Chobots, its history and where it stands today.

What exactly is Chobots?

Chobots is a space-themed online virtual world that was launched in early October of 2008 by Vayersoft, a studio founded by Vadim Yeremeychuk.

Much like many other virtual worlds at the time, you could create an account, equip your Chobot character with unique items, play games, explore the world, interact with other players from all over the world and much more. The world had parties and seasonal events, and staff members, known as Moderators, could display special effects and "rain" outfits and special items that users have to catch.

Vayersoft also licensed Chobots to other publishers from around the world, like the German version (.de), which was managed by SpielAffe, and the Indian version (.in), which was managed by Zapak. Both were shut down after the closure of the original version.

What happened to the original game?

In 2011, Chobots has shut down due to severe hacking attacks that couldn't be fixed, which included the developer's stolen credentials, cheating and irreparable technical damage. After its shut down, some instances of Chobots arose, with the most prominent being .net (2011–2014), Chotopia, Chobotical and Chobots Universe.

The current instance of Chobots had its early access accounts reset on October 1st, 2026, and is scheduled to launch on October 15th, 2026, alongside a Halloween event. It is managed by a professional group of original Chobots players and enthusiasts, getting improved by them day-by-day.

Will it happen again?

It is unlikely to happen again, as the current team is very professional and does everything to keep the game and its systems extra secure.

What makes Chobots so special?

Having played most virtual worlds before, I can tell you that Chobots has a much different community than the rest of the games. It's warm, welcoming, kind, fun and there's always something to do or talk about. With this new era, original players and newcomers will be able to enjoy the good old days of Chobots, while seeing big improvements and how Chobots steps into the future.
